2011 has a great mixture of vintage inspired and modern designs including minimalist winter white but also styles with palettes of both bright colors and warm colors with some floral designs. The Vintage Styles are calling heavily on Art Deco still but others nod more to style from the 50s and 60s but not those styles you may be so familiar with.

Art Deco styles have never completely gone, some Art Deco buildings are among Northern America's most iconic. Designers are taking Art Deco a step further on with styles that are more overtly Art Deco than original Art Deco usually was. To really pull off an Art Deco Interior style you are going to have to change not just furniture but also fixings and fittings.

The current styles for florals seem modern but the colors and floral patterns make you think more 1970s, the floral designs though are more modern and not the repetitive symmetric pattern of the 1970s. The palette though bright is more than this with dark but warm colors dominant in size but with colors including vibrant pinks and blues the colors that really stand out, without being able to overpower.

If you want to go in the direction of minimalism then Sleek Whites or Winter Whites styles are what you may want to prepare for winter 2011. The color palette is as close to being purely white as any style, the qualities of this style come from shapes. Sleek Whites: often geometrical and many sided one way to take this style is with plenty of bone china items from lampshades to crockery. Another way to go with the Winter Whites is with a more baroque style, bringing in some fantastic virtually white marble and intricate carving and detail.

Vintage Holiday and Vintage Beach styles have come out of Europe mainly. This has given the style a feel of traditional holidays at seaside resorts in the austere post war period, this style involves plenty of white, red and blue. Materials include thick cotton sail cloth in the palette mentioned and plenty of artifacts can be included from the period such as bunting and postcards. You may want to add more of a US or North American spin to it of course: think Coney Island, Chesapeake Bay and Steam Boats. For a related but more international style you could go for a coastal colors style with more of a natural palette including pastel blues and yellows and grays and greens: inspired by the nature of the coast, especially that of sandy beaches; this style brings in more natural artifacts like driftwood, shells, but also the kind of items that wash up on beaches like glass buoys for example.

Luxury hand made items are what you may want to look out for if rather than a full redecoration you want to add something to your rooms. You may well already have handmade furniture, quite possibly locally made, but what about ornaments, furnishings and kitchen items? The more unique the item the better as well, look out for items from producers with a story behind them.

You can by home accents, area rugs and wall art from home decor stores toronto.
